Software Engineer
Summary
Part-time (about 3-6 hrs/week) client-facing technical advisory role at a software services firm. No production coding: the hire joins discovery calls, explains architecture, timelines and trade-offs to U.S. clients, and translates business goals into direction for the engineering team behind the scenes.

Clients want to talk to someone who understands their business and can speak credibly about the tech. Our engineers build the product, and we're looking for a U.S.-based senior technologist to be the trusted face in the room.
This is a flexible, part-time advisory role. You show up for the conversations that matter, and our team handles the building, research and delivery behind the scenes.
WHAT THIS ROLE ISN'T
A traditional engineering job. You won't write production code, manage developers or spend your week on proposals and documentation.
WHAT YOUR WEEK MIGHT INCLUDE
• Discovery calls and technical discussions with prospective and current clients
• Turning business goals into clear technical direction for our engineers
• Explaining architecture, timelines and trade-offs to non-technical founders and executives
• Setting realistic expectations on scope, budget and delivery
• Spotting concerns early and closing communication gaps before they affect the project
• Joining milestone reviews and the occasional escalation
• Helping grow long-term accounts and spotting future opportunities
You'll never walk in cold. Before every meeting, our team gives you the background, requirements and talking points.
YOU'RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE
• 3+ years in software engineering or technical leadership (Tech Lead, Solution Architect, Head of Engineering, CTO or similar)
• A U.S. base and strong spoken and written English
• Solid knowledge of software architecture and modern product development (web apps, APIs, cloud, databases, mobile or AI-enabled products)
• The ability to explain complex topics simply
• Good judgment when a client's wishes don't match what's technically or commercially realistic
• A calm, professional style and reliable follow-through
• Comfort working independently and remotely
BONUS POINTS FOR
• Consulting, agency, pre-sales or solution consulting experience
• Experience working with founders or executives
• A background in SaaS, FinTech, eCommerce, mobile or AI
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• A track record of managing long-term client relationships
THE DETAILS
Time: About 3-6 hours per week, mostly scheduled meetings, with no fixed daily hours
Flexibility: Works alongside a full-time job or your own consulting practice, as long as there's no conflict with your current employer
Compensation: Performance-based and tied to the client engagements you support. It can grow as you take on more accounts. Specifics are discussed with qualified candidates before any work begins
