Software Engineer
Summary
The Senior Backend Engineer will design, build, and operate core backend services using Java or Kotlin. The role involves end-to-end service ownership, including architecture, deployment, and collaboration with product teams.
Our client is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale the core systems behind their product. The successful candidate will own services end to end, design, build, ship, operate and work directly with product on what gets built next.
What the role involves:
- Designing, building, and operating backend services in Java/Kotlin
- Owning services end to end: architecture, deployment, monitoring, and on-call
- Designing APIs and data models other teams depend on
- Partnering with product managers to shape technical solutions
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to system design reviews
What we're looking for:
- 5+ years backend experience, strong in Java and/or Kotlin
- Background at a product company, having owned services full lifecycle (not just feature delivery)
- Comfort with cloud infra (AWS/GCP/Azure) and Docker/Kubernetes
- Strong system design instincts and great cross-team communication
