Software Engineer

Summary

Build and scale backend infrastructure for an AI voice platform, handling thousands of real-time AI-driven calls while owning full-stack projects from concept to production.

About the Role

Join a small, fast-moving engineering team at a Y Combinator-backed AI voice platform startup building the infrastructure that powers thousands of AI-driven conversations every day. You'll work directly with customers, own projects end-to-end, and have a real say in core architecture decisions — all within a high-ownership, in-person culture in Berlin.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a full-stack engineer who thrives at the intersection of scalable backend systems, real-time communications infrastructure, and modern AI-first product experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with customers to deeply understand their problems and design product experiences that solve their challenges.

  • Build and scale backend infrastructure capable of handling thousands of AI phone calls per day.

  • Craft intuitive user experiences tailored to an AI-first world.

  • Own high-stakes projects completely — from initial concept through production launch and post-release support.

  • Contribute to core product and architectural decisions alongside a small, senior team.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong PostgreSQL experience, including complex queries, performance tuning, and optimization.

  • Experience designing scalable backend architectures and making core architectural decisions.

  • Familiarity with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Python.

  • Experience with scalable async processing or real-time processing systems.

  • Proven ability to own projects end-to-end, from concept to production and beyond.

  • Experience building products for AI-first or communications-enabled platforms.

  • Strong collaboration skills — comfortable working directly with customers and cross-functional teams.

  • A track record of taking a product from 0 to 1.

  • Willingness to work on-site in Berlin, Germany (required).

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Temporal.io, Twilio, or Modal.

  • Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: €75,000 – €160,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • Visa sponsorship available.
