Salary: $130,000 per year

Help build the software that powers CONQA’s next phase of growth.

CONQA is entering an important new phase. We are an agile, focused team of 16 with a clear vision, experienced leadership, and a strong foundation to build from. We have established a trusted reputation in the global construction technology industry and are looking for a Software Engineer to help us build and evolve the products our customers rely on.

This is a meaningful opportunity to join CONQA at a time of renewed focus and play a key role in shaping the products we build.

At our size, you'll get broad exposure across the full stack, working on both front-end and back-end as part of a small, collaborative team that ships to production continuously. Working closely with our Principal Engineer, you'll take features and services from design through to production with a high degree of ownership, contribute to technical design and architecture decisions, and help grow the engineers around you.

If you're an experienced engineer who enjoys taking real ownership, shaping how things are built and seeing the direct impact of your work, this is an opportunity to make a genuine difference.

What you'll own

As our Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for building and evolving our software products by:

  • Owning the design, build and delivery of features and services end to end, from scoping and technical design through to production and ongoing support.

  • Designing, building and evolving our applications and services across front-end and back-end, with performance, reliability, security and maintainability in mind.

  • Breaking larger pieces of work into well-sequenced increments and identifying risks and dependencies early.

  • Writing clean, well-tested code, including automated unit and integration tests, and helping raise the team's quality standards.

  • Shipping changes to production as part of the team's continuous delivery workflow.

  • Participating in pair programming, ensemble (mob) programming and code review, and giving thoughtful, constructive feedback.

  • Contributing to architecture and technical design decisions, weighing trade-offs and communicating recommendations clearly.

  • Working with product and other stakeholders to shape requirements and find practical solutions to customer problems.

  • Supporting less experienced engineers through pairing, code review and knowledge sharing, and helping onboard new team members.

  • Using LLM-based coding tools (such as Claude Code) as part of your daily workflow to improve quality and throughput, and sharing what works with the team.

  • Monitoring and operating services in production, responding to issues in a timely manner, contributing to root cause analysis, and identifying technical debt and opportunities to improve our tooling and practice.

How success is measured

You'll help the team ship reliable, well-tested software our customers can depend on. In practice that means:

  • the quality, reliability and test coverage of the features and services you own,

  • how consistently you contribute to the team's continuous delivery workflow, and

  • your contribution to technical design, engineering standards and the growth of the engineers around you.

Supported by good everyday practice, like clean code, thorough testing and constructive code review

About you

You're a hands-on software engineer with solid experience behind you, who enjoys owning problems end to end and helping others do their best work.

What you’ll bring

  • Typically four or more years of commercial experience designing, building and shipping software products as part of a team.

  • A track record of owning features or services end to end, from design through to production.

  • Strong experience writing automated unit and integration tests.

  • Confidence working across front-end and back-end codebases, with sound judgement on design trade-offs affecting performance, reliability and maintainability.

  • Experience contributing to technical design and architecture decisions, and supporting or mentoring other engineers.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical people.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

  • Hands-on commercial experience working with SQL and relational databases is essential.

  • Experience with TypeScript / JavaScript and React, AWS and serverless architecture is highly desirable.

  • B2B SaaS or construction technology experience is a bonus.

  • Curiosity, initiative and the ability to thrive in a small, fast-moving team where no two days are the same.

Why join CONQA?

  • The opportunity to develop your career through exposure to a broad range of challenges and responsibilities.

  • Autonomy over how you deliver, with the ability to influence what comes next

  • The freedom to test ideas, learn from what does not work, and keep improving

  • A hybrid working environment with a close-knit team that values connection

If you're looking for a role where you can build, influence and grow while helping shape the future of CONQA’s direction we'd love to hear from you.
