This is a high-impact backend engineering opportunity focused on building and scaling the infrastructure behind critical content experiences. You’ll join a platform team responsible for Tier-0 services and core data models that support high-volume user interactions. The role combines new development with meaningful improvements to existing systems, including a large legacy Python stack. You’ll design reliable, fault-tolerant services primarily in Go while contributing to scalability, performance, availability, and efficiency initiatives. Working closely with product and infrastructure teams, you’ll help shape platform capabilities that can support continued growth over the next several years. This is an environment for engineers who enjoy complex systems, collaborative problem-solving, and delivering technology that directly enables user-facing experiences.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, test, and deliver scalable backend software, primarily in Go and occasionally in Python, with a focus on improving availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
- Build and enhance reliable, fault-tolerant, self-service platform systems that support critical content experiences and high-volume workloads.
- Navigate and improve a suite of Go services as well as a legacy Python monolith that remains part of the critical path for key user journeys.
- Implement system-level enhancements and complex code changes while maintaining high standards for code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Identify gaps and opportunities within the existing platform and contribute to its technical evolution to support long-term growth.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, and other cross-functional teams to understand customer needs, gather feedback, and translate requirements into effective platform solutions.
- Participate in shared on-call responsibilities, monitoring, and alerting efforts to strengthen service reliability, scalability, latency, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture through knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and development of technical and communication skills.
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in a production environment, with a track record of writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Go, Python, C++, or Java; experience with Go is particularly relevant.
- Experience working with databases such as Cassandra, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
- Familiarity with modern cloud and infrastructure technologies, including Kubernetes, gRPC, AWS, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of backend engineering principles, with the ability to design and improve reliable, scalable services.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work productively across engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with high-scale, high-throughput platform services and API design is a strong advantage.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to continuously develop technical expertise, system-level judgment, and broader engineering skills.
- Base salary range of $164,200–$229,900 USD, with final compensation determined by factors such as skills, experience, credentials, and location.
- Eligibility for equity compensation through restricted stock units and, where applicable, additional compensation opportunities.
