Summary

A hands-on Java full-stack engineer in Zagreb developing customer-specific extensions and integrations for F24's TopEase GRC platform — building backend services and REST/JSON/XML APIs, with some JavaScript/HTML/CSS frontend work, from requirement analysis through testing and deployment.

Software Engineer – Java / Full Stack
Zagreb | Hybrid

We're continuing to grow F24's Engineering Centre of Excellence in Zagreb and are looking for a Software Engineer to join the team working on TopEase, F24's enterprise Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) platform.

F24 is one of Europe's leading providers of crisis management, emergency notification and business resilience software, supporting thousands of organisations around the world when it matters most.

This particular team is responsible for developing customer-specific extensions and functionality within TopEase, working across backend services, APIs, integrations and frontend functionality.

We're looking for a strong, hands-on engineer who enjoys taking a requirement, understanding the problem and turning it into well-built, maintainable software.

What you'll be doing:
  • Develop backend functionality primarily using Java
  • Build and work with REST APIs, web services and JSON/XML integrations
  • Develop customer-specific extensions and functionality within the TopEase platform
  • Contribute across the frontend where relevant, working with JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Work within an established enterprise platform, understanding existing code and identifying the best way to implement new functionality
  • Build quality into your work through automated testing and good engineering practices
  • Take ownership of development work from requirement analysis through to testing and deployment
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across F24's European organisation

What we're looking for:
  • Commercial Java backend development experience
  • Experience working with REST APIs and integrations
  • Good knowledge of JSON and ideally XML
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and a focus on clean, maintainable code
  • The ability to work autonomously and get up to speed with an existing codebase
  • A proactive, pragmatic approach to solving technical problems
  • Strong English communication skills
Experience with JavaScript / frontend development would be a big plus – particularly HTML5, CSS3 or Native Web Components – but you don't need to be a traditional Full Stack Engineer.

Exposure to technologies such as Eclipse Jersey, JUnit, Playwright, npm, XPath or Apache Ant would also be useful, but we're not expecting someone to tick every box. These technologies reflect the stack outlined for the team.

Who could this suit?

We're deliberately keeping an open mind on level.

You might already be working as a Senior Software Engineer, or you could be a strong mid-level engineer looking for greater ownership and the opportunity to continue developing your skills.

What's more important is that you're a capable, hands-on developer who can understand a problem, navigate an established codebase and deliver good software.

Why F24?

You'll join an established international SaaS business while becoming part of a growing engineering organisation in Zagreb.

It's an opportunity to work on software solving complex, real-world business problems, collaborate with teams across Europe and have genuine ownership of the functionality you deliver.

If you're a Java, Backend or Full Stack Engineer in Zagreb and this sounds interesting, I'd love to hear from you.
