Software Engineer

About the Role:
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our client’s team.
Full-time, in the Kyiv office.

Responsibilities:
- Taking over the existing mobile app from day one and making it compatible with the newest hardware.
- Making the app easy for soldiers to install and use, in both Ukrainian and English.
- Keeping the app up to date with every change to the device.
- Building and maintaining a single registry of all exoskeletons: serial number, hardware and software versions, settings and repair history.
- Setting up the collection of data each unit records during tests and storing it in a searchable database instead of chats and spreadsheets.
- Designing the data system to scale from 10 to 10,000 units.
- Developing simple web pages and dashboards for the field team, engineering and customers.
- Updating, recovering and reading logs from any unit in Kyiv on their own.
- Giving the Shenzhen firmware team clear, specific feedback and making small firmware changes together with them when needed.

Requirements:
- A track record of building and shipping a real product, mostly on their own, with work they can show (links, app store, repositories).
- Strong skills in both app development (mobile or web) and data engineering (databases, data pipelines, APIs). The choice of programming languages and tools does not matter.
- Enough experience with low-level code (C or C++, embedded devices, serial and Bluetooth connections) to debug a device and talk to firmware engineers as an equal. Firmware expertise is not required.
- Clearly excellent at what they do: high energy, strong ownership, moves fast and finishes things.
- Ukrainian citizenship and English good enough for daily work with colleagues in the US, France and China.
- Comfortable working with hardware and with soldiers.
