Software Engineer
Summary
Builds and maintains C#/.NET applications and SQL databases for a UK-based services company, collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
Salary: £35,000 - 45,000 per year
Requirements:- At least three years commercial experience developing with C# and .NET
- Experience designing and querying relational databases using SQL
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and clients
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently when required
- Solid understanding of software architecture, design principles and common architectural patterns such as SOLID, layered or n-tier architecture, DDD and design patterns
- Passion for software craftsmanship, taking pride in writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code and continually improving the codebase
- Knowledge of secure coding practices is desirable
- Knowledge of Azure App Services, Azure Functions, or Azure SQL is desirable
- Experience supporting and modernising legacy or on-premises applications is desirable
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline is desirable
- Experience using Git and collaborative development practices is desirable
- Experience writing unit and integration tests is desirable
- Develop, test and maintain business applications using C#, .NET and related technologies
- Support and enhance existing business-critical applications while contributing to their ongoing modernisation
- Design, develop and deploy cloud-based services
- Work closely with developers, product managers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions

We are a small, collaborative team at Dawleys looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and quality-driven mid-level Software Engineer to join us in an office-based role at our Ross-on-Wye location. You will work across a varied portfolio of applications and services used by us and our clients, supporting both Microsoft Azure cloud platforms and existing on-premises systems. This hands-on role offers the chance to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, influence technical decisions, and see the direct impact of your work. We offer a salary of £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience, along with a pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, a length of service loyalty bonus, company events and eye tests. We work Monday to Friday, 0900–1700, in a full-time permanent position with 31 days holiday including public holidays, and a 6-month probation period.
