Software Engineer – DevOps Tools (1-Year Maternity Cover)
Summary
Build AI tooling and APIs using Golang and Python within a DevOps team. You will drive initiatives, support Kubernetes/AWS infrastructure, and champion software quality in a hybrid role based in Malmö.
Location: Malmö, Sweden (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days per week in the office)
Job Type: Full-time, 1-Year Temporary Contract (Maternity Cover)
Start: 1st of October
About the Team
The DevOps Tools team operates at the intersection of platform infrastructure and cutting-edge AI applications. We are a close-knit, highly collaborative team with a strong culture of trust and shared ownership, responsible for enabling the wider engineering organization. Our work spans two major domains:
AI Applications: Building the software layers and APIs that power both our internal tooling and our customer-facing products, integrating both off-the-shelf LLMs and internally developed ML models.
Platform Infrastructure & CI/CD: Managing Kubernetes and AWS-based projects (such as new geographic site rollouts), providing infrastructure debugging, and onboarding new orchestration initiatives into our messaging infrastructure.
About the Role
We are looking for a strong Software Engineer to join us for a 1-year maternity cover. While some members of our team drive the overarching cloud and infrastructure strategy, this role focuses heavily on software engineering excellence.
You will be responsible for building robust software solutions, integrating AI applications, and writing clean, maintainable code primarily in Golang and Python. You will act as a key driver of software best practices, helping us maintain and continuously improve our coding standards and ways of working.
What You Will Do
Drive Quarterly Initiatives: Take full ownership of a major team initiative each quarter. You will define the technical requirements, drive the planning, and independently implement the solution (e.g., scoping observability for ML APIs, migrating exporters, or building user feedback loops).
Developer Support Rotation: Spend one week per month (during standard business hours only) dedicated to supporting our development teams. You will help troubleshoot, debug general infrastructure issues, and handle small provisioning tasks.
Champion Software Quality: Uphold and advocate for strong coding standards, rigorous code review processes, testing standards, and solid software architecture best practices.
Develop AI Tooling & APIs: Build, integrate, and maintain the software wrappers and APIs that support our AI systems across both internal and customer-facing environments.
Support Infrastructure Initiatives: Collaborate with our infrastructure experts to deliver Kubernetes and AWS-based projects, writing the software "glue" required to onboard new systems into our infrastructure.
Collaborate & Share Knowledge: Work closely with engineers across our team and other departments, providing guidance, conducting code reviews, and sharing your expertise to help elevate the wider engineering culture.
What We Are Looking For
Language Proficiency: Strong, proven experience writing production-grade code in Golang and Python.
Autonomous Execution: Proven ability to take a high-level quarterly objective, define the technical requirements, and independently drive it to completion.
Quality Mindset: A strong background in software engineering best practices, with a focus on maintainability, testing, and architecture.
Cloud & Containers: Solid working knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes to effectively collaborate on infrastructure initiatives and support CI/CD pipelines.
API & Integration Experience: Experience building robust APIs and system integrations—ideally with exposure to connecting AI/ML application endpoints.
Team Player: A collaborative and service-oriented mindset. You enjoy working in a close-knit environment and are comfortable supporting developers in other teams during your rotation weeks.
