Joining Moderna means advancing mRNA science to transform medicine. This DevSecOps Software Engineer role shapes the engineering foundations powering Moderna’s software ecosystem, working with global teams across a broad pipeline to build a career that makes a real difference for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve automation that powers Moderna’s internal developer platform using Python, TypeScript, GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Docker, AWS, JFrog, and a variety of vendor APIs.
  • Collaborate with application engineering teams (“Builders”) to migrate workloads onto standardized, secure platform capabilities.
  • Support the migration and ongoing management of existing DevOps tooling by onboarding repositories and engineering teams, validating platform behavior, improving developer workflows, and documenting remediation paths.
  • Design, build, and maintain developer remote workspace infrastructure, reusable templates, container configurations, base images, development tooling, and onboarding documentation that enable teams to become productive quickly.
  • Improve platform reliability and operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and automation that reduces operational toil.
  • Develop clear internal documentation, implementation examples, and guidance that enables engineering teams to adopt platform capabilities consistently.
  • Identify recurring developer challenges and continuously improve shared frameworks, reusable templates, automation, and platform tooling to enhance engineering productivity.
  • Participate in operational support for owned platform services while automating repetitive operational activities.
  • Help expand AI‑assisted software development by integrating MCP‑style capabilities, packaging internal engineering tools, supporting AI agents, and improving developer experience through modern AI‑powered workflows.
  • Contribute across the complete software lifecycle—from design and implementation through cloud infrastructure, deployment, CI/CD, and production operations—while continually expanding your technical expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
  • Hands‑on experience building and operating solutions in AWS.
  • Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for production systems.
  • Interest in developer tooling, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and secure software delivery.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, code review, version control, and system design.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing team priorities and contribute across a range of platform engineering responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.
  • Experience with artifact repositories such as JFrog Artifactory, Nexus, or GitHub Packages.
  • Experience with security scanning tools, dependency management, code scanning, or vulnerability remediation workflows.
  • Comfort partnering with multiple engineering teams and influencing adoption through strong technical execution.
