Role: Software Engineer

Salary: Up to £55k

Location: Newton Abbot (Hybrid)

Role Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software across embedded, desktop and web-based platforms.

• Build secure, reliable applications and services within Linux-based environments.

• Improve development processes, automation, testing and deployment practices.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver integrated hardware and software solutions.

• Manage technical projects, document solutions and support the development of junior engineers.

Essential Skills & Experience

Minimum 2 years' relevant experience, including:

• Python, Django

• React

• Linux development, administration and system security.

• Embedded C programming and hardware interfacing.

• Docker, Git, CI/CD and automated testing.

• Messaging and infrastructure technologies such as RabbitMQ, Redis and Apache.

• Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, LDAP, SNMP and firewalls.

• Secure software development, vulnerability management and system hardening.

• Hardware fault-finding and technical troubleshooting.

Desirable Experience

• Embedded operating systems, particularly Zephyr and Yocto.

• Developing applications across Windows, Linux and macOS.

• Experience with electronics design and hardware production testing.

• Additional programming languages such as C++, C#, or Rust.

• Software security assessments and penetration testing.
