Software Engineer — Frontend Focused (Discovery Analytics)

Columbia, MD | Full Time | TS/SCI with Polygraph Required

Position: Software Engineer, Level 1 — Frontend Focused

Location: Columbia, MD (on-site)

Compensation: $130,000 – $160,000 (annualized USD)

Experience Requirement:

• 3+ years with a Bachelor's degree, OR

• 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

Description

The Discovery Analytics Team (DAT) is looking for a new software developer to provide rapid software solutions to analysts and operators. The candidate will have a front-end UI focus with opportunities to work on the full stack and across a wide range of technologies.

The tools created and supported by the DAT are used by operators and analysts to reduce friction in achieving their goals. You'll work closely with analysts, operators, and other DAT team members to create and maintain UI tools that help address important operational issues. The DAT works in a broad, fast-paced environment with the goal of quick turnaround to deliver as much benefit as possible.

Responsibilities

• Develop frontend UIs to display user data in intuitive ways.

• Communicate directly with users to gather and integrate feedback into software solutions.

• Understand the customer's workflows.

• Collaborate often with team members and across other teams.

• Automate workflows.

• Solve problems even with minimal or no knowledge about how at the start.

Skills Requirements

• JavaScript/TypeScript and HTML/CSS experience.

• Experience developing with UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc.).

• Familiarity with relational databases (Postgres, SQLite, MySQL, etc.).

• Knowledge of basic Docker containerization.

• Experience using Git for version control.

• Familiarity with Linux command line.

Nice to Haves

• Prior experience in cyber operations or capability development.

• Experience with non-relational databases (Elasticsearch, MongoDB).

• Other programming language knowledge (Java, Python, Bash, PowerShell).

• Other frontend or backend frameworks (Vue, FastAPI, Spring Boot, etc.).

• Data science and machine learning experience.

• Experience with DevOps (GitLab CI, CI/CD, K8s, Ansible).

• Any AWS or other cloud provider certification.

Compensation Employment Policy

Salary is determined by multiple factors, including location, education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $130,000 – $160,000 (annualized USD).
