Software Engineer (Full-Time, 1-Year Contract) – Ankara, Türkiye

Summary

Build and maintain enterprise healthcare applications using a low-code platform, JavaScript, React, and SQL, with a future transition to microservices and AI-assisted development.

Location: Ankara, Türkiye (On-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time (1-Year Contract)

About OneWell Health Care

OneWell Health Care is a U.S.-based healthcare provider exclusively serving individuals across the United States. We specialize in home and community-based services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Autism, behavioral health needs, and complex care requirements.

Technology plays a critical role in our mission. Our engineering team develops and maintains the systems that support nationwide operations, combining modern software engineering practices with low-code development, AI-assisted tooling, and a long-term transition toward microservices architecture.

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer who is eager to build enterprise applications, learn new technologies, and grow alongside an experienced engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Create and evolve data models (tables), form and page designs on our low-code platform.
  • Implement business rules in ES6 JavaScript within model events and backend functions.
  • Build REST API integrations, email flows, and PDF/report outputs using the platform's built-in structures.
  • Make targeted adjustments to the platform-generated React frontend, within the limits allowed by our standards.
  • Translate requirements from analyst and modeling teams into technical solutions, progressing in line with the technical approach and priorities set by the team lead.
  • Ensure your code conforms to the team's coding standards, naming, and structuring conventions.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply feedback promptly and constructively.
  • Test and debug the features you build, and support them after release.
  • Keep technical documentation for your work up to date.
  • Learn the business rules and domain logic of the applications you work on, and make that knowledge shareable within the team.
  • As your experience and command of the business logic grow, take part in the AI-assisted migration of applications running on our low-code platform to our new microservices-based environment.

What We're Looking For

Technical

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0-5 years of professional software development experience (new graduates are welcome).
  • Solid grounding in JavaScript / ES6+: functions, scope and closures, promises/async patterns, working with JSON.
  • Relational database and SQL skills: writing queries, joins, and an understanding of indexing.
  • Good command of REST API concepts (request/response structures, authentication, error handling).
  • Working knowledge of React or a comparable modern frontend library.
  • Experience using Git for version control.

Ways of working - as decisive for us as the technical criteria

  • Ability to read and understand an existing codebase, and the willingness to conform to established coding standards rather than introduce your own style.
  • Clear communication with your team lead, and the discipline to follow the direction and priorities given.
  • Ability to receive feedback without defensiveness and to be constructive in code reviews.
  • Team fit: sharing status on time, flagging blockers early, and working in a way that makes your colleagues' work easier.
  • A habit of breaking problems down and getting to root causes rather than arriving at results by trial and error.
  • Genuine willingness to learn the logic of a new and unfamiliar platform.
  • Ability to read technical documentation in English and Turkish.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with low-code / no-code platforms (OutSystems, Mendix, ServiceNow, Appian, etc.).
  • Familiarity with script engines (Nashorn, GraalJS, Rhino), code generation, or metadata-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of or experience with microservices architecture (service decomposition, inter-service communication, messaging).
  • A habit of using AI-assisted development tools (LLM-based coding assistants) effectively in daily work.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and containerized applications (Docker).
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.

This Role May Be a Good Fit If

  • A clearly defined framework speeds you up rather than constrains you.
  • You find it interesting to learn how a low-code platform works internally (metadata, code generation, script engines).
  • You're early in your career and want to grow with mentorship from an experienced team.
  • You want to learn the business rules and the domain first, then move toward microservices architecture and AI-assisted development.

This Role May Not Be a Good Fit If

  • You want to choose the technology stack and design the architecture from scratch on every project.
  • Preserving your personal coding style matters more to you than following the team's standards.
  • You prefer to work alone with infrequent feedback.

What We Offer

  • Structured low-code platform onboarding and one-on-one mentorship during your first months.
  • A consistent code review culture with concrete feedback.
  • A clear growth path: after learning the business logic on the low-code platform, moving into AI-assisted development in our new microservices-based environment.
  • Short cycles from idea to production, thanks to a platform with well-established standards.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Private Health Insurance
  • SGK (Social Security) benefits
  • Supportive, mission-aligned team culture
