We are currently seeking a full-time Software Engineer to join our development team and contribute to the design, development and maintenance of our software systems and applications.
About the Role
As a Software Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, testing and maintenance of software applications and services. You will work closely with developers, technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable and effective software solutions that support the company's technology and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test and maintain software applications and backend services.
Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
Develop and maintain APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
Design, develop and maintain database-related functionality and SQL queries.
Troubleshoot software defects and technical issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Perform testing, debugging and performance optimisation.
Participate in code reviews and maintain software development standards and practices.
Support software deployment, maintenance and ongoing improvement of applications.
Collaborate with developers, technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation where required.
Skills and Experience
Essential Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Professional experience in software development.
Experience with Java and object-oriented programming.
Experience developing backend applications and APIs.
Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
Understanding of software development methodologies and version control.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
Desirable Skills
Experience with Spring Boot or similar backend frameworks.
Experience with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
Experience with Docker or containerised application environments.
Experience developing integrations with third-party systems or APIs.
Experience with automated testing and continuous integration/deployment practices.
