Software Engineer

Join the Advice Technology team at a leading financial services organisation, building the software that powers its financial advice platform. You'll work in the Advice Automation squad, developing full-stack features with Java on the back end and Angular on the front end.
The focus is on user-friendly, reliable applications for advisers and their clients. You'll work in an Agile team across new feature delivery, BAU enhancements and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities

• Design, build and test back-end services and APIs in Java
• Develop responsive, user-friendly front-end features in Angular
• Deliver significant technical enhancements from design and analysis through to release
• Write unit and automated tests to keep code quality high
• Carry out root cause analysis and resolve production issues
• Contribute to discovery sessions, stand-ups and other Agile ceremonies
• Follow and help improve team standards, practices and code reviews

Skills and experience Essential

• Strong commercial experience building back-end applications in Java
• Strong commercial experience building single-page applications in Angular
• Solid grasp of object-oriented principles and full-stack development
• Experience with unit testing, test automation and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams
• Clear communication and a collaborative, quality-first approach

Desirable

• Experience in financial services, wealth or advice platforms
• Relational database experience (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
