What You Will Do

  • Responsibilities include working on tasks related to commercial engines, military engines or both depending on business need. May be required to obtain a security clearance.
  • The Facility Control Systems (FCS) group has a core mission to improve jet engine test efficiency by developing robust test facility automations.
  • We are seeking a creative and driven controls engineer to implement solutions in support of our goal.
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills are critical to success in this group.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are also a must.
  • You should be flexible working in a rapidly evolving environment where objectives can change in accordance with customer needs.
  • In this role, you will design and maintain control system software for facility safety systems, engine resource delivery systems, and many other unique applications.
  • Working all project stages from planning to validation to customer support, you will have the opportunity to program logic for custom-built systems used for specialized engine test objectives.
  • This role requires constant collaboration and working alongside a wide array of support groups to ensure engine tests are executed safely and successfully.


What You Will Learn

  • Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months - 9 months - 9 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Previous RTX intern experience


Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with focus on control systems
  • Experience with logic design and Allen Bradley PLC hardware.
  • Experience with Labview or similar graphical coding environments.
  • PID tuning skills.
  • HMI design experience.
  • Experience with electrical control circuit design and troubleshooting methods.
  • Experience with pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and electric motors
  • Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
