The Akamai Inference Cloud team is part of Akamai's Cloud Technology Group. We design and operate AI platforms enabling customers to run inference models with unmatched performance, compliance, and economics. We build the foundational infrastructure powering our globally distributed platform AI, Kubernetes orchestration, GPU resource management, networking, and multi-region deployment. #AIC
As a Software Engineer II, you will build and maintain platform services supporting our globally distributed AI inference infrastructure. Your work will span data plane APIs, authentication, and multi-tenant security. You'll gain exposure to AI infrastructure patterns while working with senior engineers building systems powering inference workloads.
Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining data plane APIs that enable reliable and performant communication between platform components and inference services.
- Implementing authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant security controls that ensure isolation and compliance across the platform.
- Contributing to the design and development of platform services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Writing well-tested, well-documented code and participating in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
- Supporting operational readiness through monitoring, alerting, and incident response for platform services you help build.
Qualifications
- Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
- Demonstrate proficiency in at least one systems programming language such as Go, Python, or Java
- Show experience building and consuming RESTful or gRPC APIs in a distributed systems environment.
- Have familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or Akamai Cloud), containerization, and basic Kubernetes concepts.
- Demonstrate understanding of authentication and authorization patterns such as OAuth, RBAC, or multi-tenant isolation.
- Show familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern software development practices.
- Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn and thrive in a dynamic engineering setting.
