We are looking for a Software Engineer – Robotics & Edge AI Software Development to join our team in Tustin, CA. This position will focus on developing and deploying robotics and Edge AI software solutions across embedded and intelligent computing platforms.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with robotics, ROS2, computer vision, embedded Linux, and AI inference technologies. You will work across the software development lifecycle, from sensor integration and algorithm optimization to simulation, validation, troubleshooting, and customer deployment. The role also offers the opportunity to collaborate with sales, engineering, and global technical teams to develop innovative solutions for real-world robotics and Edge AI applications.
- Design and develop robotic software systems for perception, motion, and autonomous navigation by integrating/calibrating sensors and implementing ROS2 mapping, localization, and path planning algorithms.
- Implement, quantize, and optimize AI vision algorithms (object detection, tracking, recognition) and inference workloads for deployment on Advantech Edge AI platforms.
- Establish simulation and validation workflows using open-source tools to accelerate physical AI development and system reliability.
- Maintain and configure “Ready-to-Dev” container environments (Docker) to streamline hardware driver access, GPU/NPU passthrough, and dependency isolation.
- Test, validate, and apply minor modifications to hardware abstraction layers, APIs, and edge deployment tools for customer-specific setups.
- Partner with Sales and Business Development on pre-sales feasibility testing, technical responses to customer bids, solution architecture, and post-sales technical onboarding and training.
- Debug, reproduce, and troubleshoot software defects related to customer field issues across embedded operating systems and Edge AI stacks.
- Serve as the technical bridge between U.S. cross-functional teams and global engineering teams, escalating complex software bugs and customer feature requests as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with global engineering teams across multiple time zones.
Required Qualifications:
- BS/MS in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
