Builds and maintains Google Cloud’s Artifact Registry, a universal package manager for GCP, focusing on backend services, CLI tools, and compliance for large-scale deployments.

Artifact Registry is Google Cloud Platform's (GCP) universal package manager for build artifacts and dependencies, serving as the successor to Container Registry. It is a unique service within GCP that integrates closely with open-source clients used to push and pull artifacts. The product plays a critical strategic role for GCP while operating as an independently profitable service.|

In this role, you will:

  • Build new features on the platform to support customer needs and match competitor capabilities.
  • Integrate with Secure Source to Prod initiatives across Cloud CI/CD products.
  • Ensure Artifact Registry meets compliance criteria required by large GCP enterprise customers.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Design and build features in the Artifact Registry backend service.
  • Design and build gcloud SDK command-line support corresponding to backend features.
  • Design and build open-source command-line tools to augment Artifact Registry usage scenarios.
  • Design, implement, and support the Artifact Registry service across general software engineering tasks.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience in software development using Go.
  • Experience building and deploying applications using containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
