Our summer internship programme in Amsterdam is your chance to experience life as an engineer at IMC. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will go beyond writing code and designing technology: you’ll gain insight into algorithm complexity and data structures, get to know IMC’s unique business model, and build valuable connections with our trading and technology teams. Throughout the summer, you will work on a relevant project while receiving comprehensive support from dedicated internship trainers, and a one-on-one mentor to guide you in your work and professional development. YOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enhance your knowledge of algorithm complexity, data structures, and writing fluent code
  • Support the development of our trading platform and software stack
  • Gain experience across the entire software development lifecycle at IMC especially by collaborating with traders, researchers and hardware engineers
  • Be an integral part of your team by helping to identify, implement and validate changes to IMC’s trading algorithm and system
  • Enhance your coding skills by participating in individual and collaborative, competitive hackathons and technology challenges
  • Attend workshops, presentations, trainings, and social activities alongside the full internship cohort

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • In your penultimate year of study in computer science, software engineering, or a related field graduating in 2028
  • Proficient experience in a programming language (Java or C++ preferred)
  • You thrive working in an environment where creativity, teamwork, and innovation are recognised and rewarded
  • You want to make an impact on meaningful and challenging projects
  • Outstanding analytical skills and a desire to solve complicated problems programmatically
  • Genuine interest in financial markets (no prior knowledge or experience is required)
  • Must be able to start the internship on June 28, 2027
