About the Meridian Program
The Meridian Program is Provalus' proprietary talent development initiative designed to cultivate untapped rural talent for technology careers. It focuses on preparing STEM and Computer Science majors for successful IT roles through a college-level internship that combines classroom learning with real-world training under industry experts. The program establishes exclusive partnerships with accredited universities in rural America, such as Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX, Arkansas State University, Grambling State University, and Louisiana Tech University, to build a talent pipeline. Participants gain hands-on experience on client projects, with the opportunity to transition from internships to full-time positions upon graduation. This hybrid model supports long-term workforce development, creates jobs in local communities, and enables cost-effective blended delivery teams by pairing interns with graduates and full-time professionals. The program emphasizes developing technical talent and keeping high-tech opportunities in rural areas.

About the Role
Provalus is seeking motivated and technically proficient Software Engineer Interns to join our team for the Spring of 2026. This internship offers hands-on experience in designing, developing, and testing software solutions, providing exposure to real-world software engineering projects. If you are passionate about coding, eager to build innovative applications, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, this role is for you.
  • Location: Nacogdoches, TX (onsite at our Center of Excellence) or potentially at our newest locations at Arkansas State University and Louisiana Tech University (pending finalization of contracts).
  • Duration: Spring 2026 semester (approximately January to May, flexible based on academic schedule)
  • Hours: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week
  • Compensation: Scholarship for first-semester interns; up to $20.00 per hour for approved returning interns; academic credit available in some cases

What You'll Do
  • Assist in designing and developing software applications under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar.
  • Participate in testing and debugging software to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with team members to review code, implement feedback, and adhere to coding standards.
  • Contribute to the development of APIs, database integrations, or front-end/back-end components for client projects.
  • Engage in training sessions to learn modern software development practices and tools (e.g., Git, Agile methodologies).
  • Assist in documenting technical specifications, user guides, or system architecture for software projects.
  • Participate in team meetings to observe and learn about software development lifecycle processes and best practices.

What We're Looking For
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Enrolled as a junior or senior in a college degree program, majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems Management (ISM) at a Texas university or at Arkansas State University, Grambling State University, or Louisiana Tech University.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++).
  • Familiarity with software development concepts (e.g., version control, APIs, or databases) is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working in a team environment.
  • Interest in learning and applying modern software engineering practices.
  • A desire to make a difference by contributing to a company that revitalizes communities and creates real opportunities in underserved areas.
