About Tiberius Aerospace
Tiberius Aerospace is building the next generation of weapons systems for the United States, United Kingdom, and their allies.
We believe the future of defense will be built differently: through faster iteration, tighter integration of software and hardware, and a modern approach to how mission-critical systems are designed, tested, deployed, and continuously improved.
Our systems do not stop evolving once they leave the factory. Tiberius is building technologies—and a defense ecosystem—that connect engineers, operators, manufacturers, governments, and allies into a continuously learning system.
To serve our nations with Strength, Honor, and Purpose — forging the systems that defend freedom and shape the future of defense.
The Role
Tiberius is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate the internal systems that keep the company moving.
This is a multidimensional engineering role for someone comfortable moving across software development, platform engineering, infrastructure, developer tooling, and corporate technology. You will build internal tools, automate operational workflows, improve developer productivity, and solve the technical problems standing between the team and the mission.
You will report directly to the CTO and operate in small, high-trust teams with significant autonomy. We value engineers who finish what they start, take pride in what they ship, and are willing to take on the work that matters—whether it is a production service, Kubernetes cluster, CI pipeline, identity system, endpoint issue, or internal tool that removes friction for the entire company.
This is a fully remote U.S. role. The successful candidate may remain remote on an ongoing basis, with occasional travel for company meetings, planning sessions, technical work, or other business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain internal software and tooling used across Tiberius.
- Develop services, automation, and operational tools primarily inGoandRust.
- Build, operate, and continuously improve infrastructure running onKubernetes.
- Create reproducible development and system environments usingNixandNixOS.
- Improve developer workflows, CI/CD, infrastructure management, deployment practices, and system reliability.
- Automate corporate IT and operational processes wherever practical.
- Support internal technology across applications, Linux systems, networking, identity, endpoints, and SaaS platforms.
- Investigate and resolve ambiguous technical problems without waiting for them to become someone else’s ticket.
- Partner with engineering, security, operations, and business teams to remove blockers and deliver complete outcomes.
- Build systems that are reliable, tested, documented, secure, and maintainable.
- Mentor other engineers and help shape technical direction as the company grows.
What You’ll Bring
- Significant professional software engineering experience, including operating at aSenior Software Engineerlevel.
- Strong software-development experience withGo.
- Experience developing systems, services, or tooling withRust.
- Strong practical Kubernetes experience, including deploying, operating, and troubleshooting containerized workloads.
- Experience withNix and/or NixOSfor reproducible environments, system configuration, or package management.
- Strong Linux and systems-engineering fundamentals.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-quality internal tools, infrastructure, or platform services.
- Solid understanding of networking, APIs, authentication, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
- Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar systems and carry ambiguous technical problems through to resolution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience in several of the following areas is valuable:
- Platform engineering and developer experience
- Infrastructure as Code
- CI/CD, build systems, and release automation
- Cloud infrastructure
- Identity and access management
- SSO, SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect
- Corporate-device and endpoint management
- Networking and VPN technologies
- Observability, logging, and monitoring
- Secrets management
- Security engineering
- GitOps
- IT automation and SaaS administration
- Zero-trust architecture
What We’re Looking For
You get after the mission.
You understand that speed matters. You look for ways to remove unnecessary steps and friction without lowering the quality bar.
You own the outcome.
You do not stop at identifying a problem, producing a status update, or handing unfinished work downstream. You carry things across the line.
You do work you’re proud of.
You test assumptions, fix problems properly, and build systems you would be comfortable handing to the sharpest engineer you know.
You pick up the broom.
Titles do not determine what work is worth doing. If running a cable, writing documentation, debugging another team’s service, or resolving an IT issue moves the mission forward, you do it.
You seek criticism.
You want candid technical feedback. You change your mind when the evidence changes, and care more about getting the answer right than being right.
You are a doer.
You prototype, build, fix, and close loops. When you see something broken, your instinct is to make it better.
Above all, we are looking for engineers who measure themselves by what the team accomplished—not simply by the code they personally wrote.
Work Environment
This position is remote within the United States. The person hired for this role may remain remote on an ongoing basis. Occasional travel may be required for company meetings, planning sessions, technical work, or other business needs.
Due to the nature of our work, U.S. citizenship is required.
