Software Engineer (Java & Angular) | Yearly Renewable Contract

Summary

Builds and maintains Java-based back-end services and Angular front-end applications following design specs and coding standards.

The Software Engineer is responsible for developing software based on design requirements and ensuring programs work according to specification. The role requires adherence to coding standards and delivery of quality solutions within agreed schedules and requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Gather requirements and work with Business Analysts and Team Leads to review and refine functional specifications, providing efficient and feasible solutions.
  • Analyse functional requirements and translate them into application designs using established methodologies and guidelines.
  • Analyse process and program specifications and convert them into program code, ensuring compliance with programming standards and best practices.
  • Make changes to configurable items, including hardware, software, and documentation. This includes configuration management planning, identification, control, and audits.
  • Develop unit test packages, execute tests, and document results to ensure software quality.
  • Assist in integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), implementation activities, and bug fixing to ensure smooth production deployment.
  • Investigate reported issues and errors, perform necessary amendments, and conduct testing to ensure system stability and efficiency.
  • Ensure code compliance with security guidelines.
  • Conduct peer code reviews to improve project quality.
  • Prepare and maintain up-to-date application system documentation.
Essential Qualification
  • Experience in Java software development, including application design, development, testing, and maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with Java programming and object-oriented development principles.
  • Experience with Angular development is preferred, including front-end application enhancements and maintenance.
  • Experience working with software development lifecycle activities, including coding, debugging, unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution.
  • Familiarity with application maintenance and support activities, including troubleshooting, issue investigation, and implementing code fixes.
  • Knowledge of coding standards, version control practices, and software development best practices.
