You will work closely with a highly collaborative engineering team to design and develop production-quality software, contribute to technical and product specifications, participate in architecture and design decisions, and continuously improve our systems and engineering practices.

The ideal candidate has strong Java backend development experience and is comfortable working with SQL, message-based architectures, APIs, cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

• Design and develop sustainable, readable, maintainable, and elegant Java code.
• Re-architect, refactor, and improve existing software where required.
• Contribute to technical and product specifications and participate in architecture and design discussions.
• Build reliable, robust, and scalable backend applications and services.
• Design and develop REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Work with message-based and event-driven architectures to build resilient distributed systems.
• Design and maintain SQL schemas and data models that effectively represent business domains.
• Write automated tests using appropriate testing frameworks and methodologies.
• Participate actively in code reviews and technical discussions, providing and incorporating constructive feedback.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, development practices, tooling, and system reliability.
• Work with cloud-native infrastructure and Kubernetes to build and deploy production services.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Continuously learn and apply modern programming paradigms, technologies, and engineering practices.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Take ownership of technical initiatives and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  

What You'll Bring to Maropost

• 3+ years of professional experience in Java development, with strong hands-on experience building production backend applications.
• Strong knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience developing backend services, APIs, and distributed applications.
• 2+ years of experience working with SQL databases, including schema design and data modelling.
• Experience with message-based/event-driven architectures such as Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Experience working with microservices and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or modern cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
• Good understanding of automated testing, code quality, refactoring, and code review practices.
• Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong bias toward feedback, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks/projects and proactively contribute ideas.
  

• Experience with Apache Pulsar or Kafka,Spring Boot / Spring Cloud, GitOps and tools such as ArgoCD.
  
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Experience working in SaaS, e-commerce, fintech, or other high-scale product environments.
