Job Summary

HireOn is a recruitment agency recruiting on behalf of a leading client in Lahore. We are looking for a Software Engineer - Java, Spring Boot & Database with 1-2 years of professional experience to join the backend engineering team.

The ideal candidate should have a strong hands-on understanding of Spring Boot and Java backend development, along with good database and SQL skills. The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining backend services, building RESTful APIs, working with MySQL databases, and contributing to reliable and scalable software solutions.

This role is particularly suitable for a developer who has a solid foundation in Spring Boot and database development and wants to grow their backend engineering expertise.

Core ResponsibilitiesJava & Spring Boot Development

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using Java 17 and Spring Boot
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and Spring MVC
• Implement business logic following clean and maintainable coding practices
• Work with existing backend architecture and contribute to new features
• Troubleshoot bugs and resolve application issues
• Write clean, reusable, and well-structured code
• Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices

Database Development & SQL

• Work extensively with MySQL databases
• Write, maintain, and optimize SQL queries
• Design and work with database tables, relationships, constraints, and indexes
• Understand database normalization and relational database concepts
• Analyze and improve query performance
• Work with joins, subqueries, aggregations, transactions, and stored procedures where required
• Assist with database schema changes and migrations using Liquibase
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across application transactions
• Troubleshoot application and database-related performance issues

Caching & Messaging

• Work with Redis for caching and improving application performance
• Develop or maintain asynchronous processes using RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems
• Work with background jobs and scheduled tasks
• Assist in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks

Security & Application Reliability

• Work with Spring Security for authentication and authorization
• Follow secure coding practices
• Implement appropriate logging and exception handling
• Assist in troubleshooting application and production issues

DevOps & Deployment

• Work with Docker and Docker Compose
• Support application deployment and environment configuration
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines
• Work with development, staging, and production environments
• Collaborate with DevOps team members when required

Collaboration

• Collaborate with Frontend, QA, Mobile, and DevOps teams
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
• Understand technical requirements and translate them into backend solutions
• Maintain technical documentation where required
• Continuously improve coding and development practices

Required Skills & Experience

• 1-2 years of professional experience in software/backend development
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Good understanding of Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security
• Experience developing RESTful APIs
• Good database and SQL skills, particularly with MySQL
• Strong understanding of:

• Working knowledge of Liquibase or database migration tools
• Basic to intermediate experience with Redis
• Basic experience with RabbitMQ or messaging systems

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools

• Exposure to FinTech, POS, Retail, e-commerce, or transaction-heavy systems
• Exposure to microservices or distributed systems
• Familiarity with Lombok
• Exposure to Jakarta EE
• Experience with CI/CD tools
• Basic knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Basic shell scripting knowledge
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
