Software Engineer - Level 1

<p><b>About the Role </b></p><p><b>We are looking for a motivated and technically curious Full Stack Developer with 0–2 years of experience to join our development team. The ideal candidate has a good foundation in Python, Node.js, React.js, SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, with an interest in developing scalable and reliable web applications. </b></p><p><b>You will work closely with senior developers, project managers, and other technical teams to design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain applications across both the frontend and backend. This is a hands-on learning role: you will be mentored, code-reviewed, and progressively given ownership of features end to end. </b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities </b></p><p><b>Develop and maintain full-stack web applications using Python, Node.js, and React.js. </b></p><p><b>Build and integrate REST APIs and backend services. </b></p><p><b>Develop responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React.js, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. </b></p><p><b>Develop backend functionality using Python and/or Node.js. </b></p><p><b>Design, write, and optimize SQL queries. </b></p><p><b>Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases. </b></p><p><b>Perform database CRUD operations, data validation, and basic database optimization. </b></p><p><b>Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and databases. </b></p><p><b>Troubleshoot application issues and participate in debugging and root-cause analysis. </b></p><p><b>Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code. </b></p><p><b>Perform unit testing and participate in code reviews. </b></p><p><b>Work with Git-based source control and follow development standards. </b></p><p><b>Collaborate with senior developers to understand requirements and implement technical solutions. </b></p><p><b>Participate in deployment, application support, and production issue resolution. </b></p><p><b>Prepare technical documentation for developed features and processes. </b></p><p><b>Use AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) responsibly — reviewing, testing, and understanding generated code before submitting it. </b></p><p><b>Continuously learn and adopt new technologies, tools, and development practices. </b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Required Skills and Qualifications </b></p><p><b>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent practical background. </b></p><p><b>0–2 years of work experience building web applications. </b></p><p><b>Working knowledge of Python and/or Node.js for backend development. </b></p><p><b>Working knowledge of React.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. </b></p><p><b>Understanding of relational databases and the ability to write and read SQL queries; exposure to PostgreSQL. </b></p><p><b>Basic familiarity with NoSQL concepts and MongoDB. </b></p><p><b>Understanding of REST API design, HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON. </b></p><p><b>Familiarity with Git and standard branching / pull request workflows. </b></p><p><b>Awareness of basic web security practices (input validation, authentication basics, avoiding common OWASP issues). </b></p><p><b>Ability to debug systematically and communicate findings clearly. </b></p><p><b>Strong willingness to learn, take feedback, and work collaboratively in a team. </b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Good to Have </b></p><p><b>TypeScript in either frontend or backend code. </b></p><p><b>Exposure to a Python web framework (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) or Node.js framework (Express, NestJS). </b></p><p><b>Familiarity with an ORM or query layer such as SQLAlchemy, Prisma, Drizzle, or Mongoose. </b></p><p><b>Experience writing automated tests (PyTest, Jest, Vitest, or Playwright). </b></p><p><b>Basic exposure to Docker and containerised local development. </b></p><p><b>Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions. </b></p><p><b>Interest in AI/LLM-enabled features — calling model APIs, working with structured outputs, or basic retrieval &#40;RAG&#41; concepts. </b></p><p><b>Understanding of responsive design and web accessibility fundamentals (WCAG). </b></p><p><b>Exposure to logging, monitoring, or application performance tools. </b></p><p><b>Open-source contributions, a public portfolio, or personal projects. </b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Soft Skills </b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical colleagues. </b></p><p><b>Ownership mindset — follows a task through to deployment and support. </b></p><p><b>Comfortable asking questions early rather than staying blocked </b></p><p><b>Attention to detail in code quality, testing, and documentation. </b></p>
