Software Engineer Manager
Summary
Manage an engineering team at a fintech company, overseeing hiring, delivery quality, and system reliability while driving technical roadmaps and cloud-based solutions.
You oversee a technology team, hire and develop engineers, drive delivery quality and reliability, manage engineering metrics, optimize workflows, coordinate with product teams, and contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the technology team
- Interview and select candidates
- Motivate and inspire the team
- Drive retention and employee engagement
- Provide engineers with feedback and prepare development plans
- Ensure delivery quality and define quality strategies and testing frameworks
- Oversee delivery processes and controls
- Ensure system stability, performance, and maintenance
- Use metrics to improve team efficiency
- Balance operational indicators and request additional resources
- Integrate product teams with client-focused areas
- Optimize workflow and communication
- Develop technical visions and system designs
- Participate in architectural decisions and EOSL planning
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 7–10 years of software engineering experience
- At least 1 year in a people management or supervisory role overseeing engineering squads
- Experience designing and developing scalable solutions using event-driven architecture and RESTful APIs
- Experience with public cloud platforms, preferably GCP or AWS
- Understanding of CI/CD practices
- Experience collaborating with SRE teams on SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs
- Experience with hiring, talent retention, performance management, and capacity planning
- Cloud certification
- Experience with legacy modernization or cloud migration
- Modern backend experience with JDK 17+ or Spring Boot, or modern front-end experience
- Familiarity with JUnit, Selenium, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD
- Financial Services or FinTech experience
