This role offers the opportunity to build and scale mission-critical systems that power sophisticated financial market data products.
You will contribute to backend services supporting data across stocks, options, crypto, and foreign exchange markets.
The position combines software engineering, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and developer-focused API design.
You will help architect highly scalable services and APIs across streaming and historical market data experiences.
Working within a globally distributed engineering environment, you will collaborate on challenging technical problems and influence architectural decisions.
The role is suited to an experienced engineer who values software quality, strong engineering fundamentals, and operational excellence.
You will work with modern technologies including Go, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Google Cloud, gRPC, WebSockets, and observability platforms.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and scale highly available, mission-critical services supporting market data products across multiple financial asset classes.
- Contribute to the architecture and evolution of market data systems, APIs, services, and libraries designed for scalability and reliability.
- Help maintain cohesive developer-focused APIs covering streaming and historical market data endpoints.
- Participate in technical planning, ideation, experimentation, and production implementation of new services and solutions to complex engineering challenges.
- Build and maintain high-quality software with strong test coverage, clean architecture, and maintainable code.
- Participate actively in peer code reviews and contribute to consistent engineering standards across the codebase.
- Troubleshoot production incidents, investigate reported bugs, and implement effective solutions to improve system reliability.
- Apply modern infrastructure, containerization, orchestration, and DevOps practices to support resilient services.
- Collaborate with engineering peers in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver reliable solutions and continuously improve development practices.
- Help evaluate technical trade-offs and challenge existing conventions when better approaches can improve scalability, performance, or maintainability.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building scalable backend systems.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes, with the ability to work comfortably with modern containerized environments.
- A strong DevOps mindset and understanding of infrastructure, deployment, reliability, and operational practices.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative software development practices.
- Experience working with large datasets is a plus.
- Experience with Kubernetes, with CKA or CKAD certification considered an advantage.
- Experience with SQL, IP networking, Linux, shell scripting, and Docker is beneficial.
- Familiarity with microservice architectures and clean code principles.
- Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or another major cloud platform is an advantage.
- Understanding of financial markets and market data concepts is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
