About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join us on a 12-month contract. The Software Engineer role is responsible for the design, development, testing and deployment of software solutions for the Mason Stevens platform. Their role includes analysing and modifying existing software as well as designing, constructing and testing end-user applications that meet user needs. Software engineers work with SME’s, Test Analysts and other business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, deploy and support software solutions that enhance Mason Stevens' proprietary platforms and business capabilities.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Test Analysts and other stakeholders to gather, analyse and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Participate in solution design, technical architecture discussions and code reviews to ensure consistency, quality and maintainability.
Contribute to the continual improvement of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including Agile delivery practices, DevSecOps processes and automation initiatives.
Design and implement ETL, APIs, integrations, MCPs and data services that support internal and external business applications.
Perform system, integration and user acceptance testing activities as required.
Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve application defects, incidents and performance issues.
Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications and operational procedures.
Support release management, deployment activities and post-release monitoring.
Stay current with emerging technologies, development frameworks and industry best practices and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to deliver strategic technology initiatives and operational enhancements.
Required Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge:
1-3 years' experience in an IT Helpdesk, Service Desk or Technical Support role.
Microsoft, ITIL or other relevant technical certifications are advantageous.
Experience as a Desktop Support engineer with high standards and a passion for technology excellence.
Experience with Windows 7/10 & Server, Office 365 administration, Active Directory, and common networking protocols.
Experience with SharePoint, PowerBI and SQL.
Exposure and knowledge of Azure (AD, VM, monitoring)
Knowledge of desktop, laptop, printer and mobile device support.
Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPN connectivity.
Experience using service management and ticketing systems such as Zendesk, Jira Service Management or similar platforms.
Familiarity with endpoint security tools, antivirus software and device management solutions.
Basic understanding of cloud-based technologies and SaaS applications.
Required Skills / Experience / Knowledge:
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience (finance related discipline preferred)
Minimum 3 years' experience in software development, preferably within financial services, fintech or a highly regulated environment.
Demonstrated experience working within Agile and DevSecOps delivery frameworks.
Experience contributing to the design and delivery of enterprise-grade applications and supporting services.
Relevant industry certifications (Microsoft Azure, Scrum, Agile or software development related certifications) are desirable.
Exposure to the implementation of AI, LLM or MCPs in relation to released solutions/software releases.
Strong experience developing applications using: C#, .NET / .NET Core, ASP.NET, React/Blazor, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Strong Microsoft SQL Server development skills, including: T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Database design and optimisation.
Experience with API development and integration technologies, including RESTful services.
Experience with source control and development platforms such as: Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and modern deployment practices.
Experience working with cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Understanding of software architecture principles, application security and secure coding practices.
Experience with unit testing, integration testing and automated testing frameworks.
