Software Engineer

Summary

The Software Engineer will support the maintenance and development of mission-critical simulation software using C++ and C# in Windows and Linux environments. The role requires strong software design skills and the ability to obtain UK government security clearance.

Salary: £50,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Strong experience in C++/C# development
  • 2 years experience in a programming language
  • Educational background in STEM
  • Good understanding of computing fundamentals (e.g. logic, data structures)
  • Strong software design skills, including Object-Oriented Programming
  • Knowledge of version control systems such as Git/SVN
  • Competent in Visual Studio & MS Office Products
  • Must be eligible to work and live in the UK
  • Must be eligible to undergo and maintain appropriate UK government Developed Vetting security clearance
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Linux or other Unix-based operating systems (desirable)
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Design and engineering algorithms (desirable)
  • Experience in an Agile environment (desirable)
Responsibilities:
  • Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of mission-critical simulation software
  • Work in both Windows and Red Hat Linux environments
  • Comprehend requirement/document changes and analyse the scope of change required for work items
  • Design, develop and maintain existing code solutions
  • Test and review software applications and associated documentation
  • Contribute to meetings and work groups, providing domain knowledge and expertise on technical matters
  • Collaborate within a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Suggest improvements for continuous improvement
