Software Engineer (MSF)

About the role

GovTech is looking for a software engineer to join the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) team.

You will build and maintain digital platforms that support social services, family programs, and community initiatives for Singaporeans.

Design and build scalable web applications while prioritizing system performance and security.
Translate business needs into technical architecture alongside product managers and designers.
Produce clean, tested code and perform peer reviews to uphold quality standards.
Participate in the full development lifecycle from initial design to deployment and monitoring.
Mentor junior team members and share technical knowledge through documentation and pair programming.
Manage Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and system compliance.
Join on-call rotations to maintain the availability of public services.

Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
Proficiency in Next.js or React.js for frontend and Java, Python, or TypeScript for backend development.
Background in building and maintaining large-scale, high-availability systems.
Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD workflows.
Knowledge of database design, API development, and third-party system integration.
Familiarity with security protocols and compliance standards in regulated environments.
Ability to work in agile teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

This role is a 2-year fixed term contract.
