Software Engineer - NestJS

Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer (NestJS) to join our engineering team, where you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to build secure, high-performance applications, contributing to technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong backend development experience and thrive in an agile, collaborative environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and RESTful APIs using NestJS and TypeScript.

2. Build scalable, maintainable, and secure microservices and backend systems.

3. Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.

4. Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.

5. Write clean, well-documented, and reusable code following best engineering practices.

6. Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

7. Design and implement database schemas and optimize SQL queries.

8. Integrate third-party APIs and external services.

9. Participate in system architecture discussions and technical planning.

10. Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.

11. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

12. Ensure applications meet security and compliance standards.

13. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the development process.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

2. 3-5+ years of professional software development experience.

3. At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience with NestJS.

4. Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).

5. Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.

6. Strong understanding of Node.js architecture and asynchronous programming.

7. Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

8. Experience with ORM libraries such as TypeORM, Prisma, or Sequelize.

9. Familiarity with authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth2).

10. Experience using Git and modern version control workflows.

11. Strong knowledge of software design patterns and clean architecture principles.

12. Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.

13. Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

14. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience building microservices.

2. Experience with Docker and containerized applications.

3. Familiarity with Kubernetes.

4. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

5. Knowledge of message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis Streams.
