Summary

Full-stack engineer at a Brisbane company building research management software for universities and research organisations. Day to day: build Vue.js frontends, C#/.NET Core APIs, and SQL Server data layers, plus contribute to DevOps pipelines and peer reviews. 12-month fixed-term contract with a view to extend.

About Endpoint IQ

Endpoint IQ is a Brisbane-based software innovator building industry-leading research management software used by universities and research organisations worldwide. We're scaling globally with a strong track record as a trusted software partner, helping research communities manage ethics, grants, budgets, contracts, and research outputs.

We're a collaborative, agile team with a "no-blame" culture that values practical solutions, continuous learning, and genuine passion for great technology.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a view to extend.

The Opportunity

Join our high-ownership technology team as an experienced full-stack engineer building enterprise-level applications that make a real difference in the research and education space. You'll work independently and in small teams to design, build, and maintain modern web applications while getting exposure to DevOps, support, QA, and release management.

We want engineers who know how to write and debug code, and who can work their way around a large codebase. We also use AI tools every day, and we want people who use them to work faster, not to fill gaps in their own understanding.

What You'll Do

  • Build polished, responsive user interfaces using Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap

  • Ship end-to-end features across the full stack, from UI to API to database

  • Develop robust REST APIs and backend services in C# and ASP.NET Core/MVC

  • Work with Entity Framework and SQL Server to design and optimise data access patterns

  • Take architectural decisions on non-trivial work and explain the trade-offs to the team

  • Use AI tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude) across the development lifecycle, from requirement clarification and code generation through to testing, review, and documentation, while critically evaluating output before it ships

  • Participate in peer code reviews using modern tools, and give feedback that lifts quality across the team

  • Contribute to DevOps pipelines for automated builds, packages, and deployment across multiple client environments

  • Collaborate directly with senior developers, technical product leads, support and QA teams, and occasionally end users

  • Write clear documentation and help maintain our internal and client knowledge bases

Skills and Experience

Required

  • 5+ years professional full-stack web development experience

  • Solid C# and .NET experience, including ASP.NET Core/MVC

  • Strong frontend skills with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js strongly preferred, React or Angular also relevant)

  • REST API design and implementation

  • SQL Server or Azure SQL experience including query design and optimisation

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability. You can design, debug, and code effectively without AI assistance

  • Strong Git workflow experience

  • Security-first mindset, familiarity with OWASP essentials and secure coding practices

  • Clear communicator who works well in a collaborative, hybrid environment

  • Practical judgment with AI tools: you know when to use them for leverage (boilerplate, test generation, documentation) and when human oversight is non-negotiable (security, correctness, client context, architectural decisions)

  • Australian work rights (sponsorship not available)

Highly Desirable

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

  • Deep Vue.js experience with modern component patterns and state management

  • Deeper AI integration experience, using tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude beyond basic code completion, for example requirement elaboration, test generation, or documentation automation

  • Entity Framework and advanced .NET deployment experience

  • SQL Server performance tuning and query optimisation expertise

  • DevOps experience with CI/CD, Azure environments, build automation, and deployment tools

  • Experience working in a long-lived codebase, including incremental modernisation or framework upgrades

  • Prior experience in tech startups, SaaS, research, higher education, or clinical institutions

  • Understanding of research management practices in Australia or New Zealand

  • Client-facing communication skills and light project coordination experience

Why Choose Endpoint IQ?

  • Meaningful impact supporting research communities and real-world outcomes

  • Fast-growing, financially stable company with clear progression opportunities

  • Flexible hybrid work: 4 days in our Brisbane office with work-from-home options

  • Collaborative, low-ego culture where practical solutions win

  • Continuous learning with mentorship and space to grow, including how we use AI as a team

  • Recognition for innovation, ownership, and quality delivery

  • Relaxed environment that values outcomes over appearances

How to Apply

Apply via Seek with your resume and a brief cover letter telling us:

  • Why you want to join Endpoint IQ

  • A problem you solved that you're proud of, and how you worked it out

  • How you use AI tools across the development lifecycle: what tools, at what stages, and where you deliberately don't use them

Links to code, examples, or projects are very welcome.
