Summary
Software engineer (4+ years) in Cape Town building and maintaining backend software and APIs with some front-end work, supporting large-scale applications in production. Stack centers on Ruby, React/Angular/Vue, MySQL and Redis, running on Linux with Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD and Agile.
Requirements:
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- A BSc majoring in Computer Science will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 4+ years' software development experience.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience supporting large-scale applications in an operational environment.
- Experience developing and maintaining backend software and APIs.
- Strong object-oriented programming skills.
- Experience with front-end development technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- Experience developing software within Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Passion for continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
- Experience supporting operational and customer-facing software environments would be advantageous.
