Software Engineer (Product Infra)

The Product Infra Software Engineer will modernize and streamline the build systems, deployment pipelines, and dependency management for Visual Components' 3D manufacturing simulation software. The role involves working with a C++/C# stack and collaborating with DevOps and QA teams to improve overall system reliability and developer productivity.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to expand the Product Infra team. You will contribute to the architecture of our products and improve the infrastructure around it. You will ensure that our product customization, dependency management, deployment pipelines, and test infrastructures are streamlined and modernized. Your focus will be on creating reliable, scalable solutions that support a growing number of customers and use cases.
The Product Infra team collaborates closely with DevOps and Quality Assurance teams while focusing on product-specific needs. This includes improving our products to support a growing number of platform customers.
We work in a hybrid model and expect team members to be onsite a few days a week to support collaboration, onboarding, and team cohesion. As a software engineer on the Product Infra team, you will:
  • Work closely with Product Owner and your Engineering Lead towards a common goal
  • Streamline and modernize our codebase and the infrastructure around it
  • Report and take ownership of issues and bring them to a successful conclusion

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to improvements in:
    • Product customization and variation for our desktop products
    • Product deployment - improve product distribution, software update mechanism
    • Desktop application build system - improve build speed, modularity and reliability together with DevOps
    • Dependency management - maintain uptodate and wellorganized dependencies, being aware of CVEs and best practices
    • Test infrastructure work with QA team to improve our custom test infrastructure for the 3D simulation platforms
    • Code base modernization - identify and deliver code modernization, tools and methodologies
  • Improve performance, stability, and overall system quality
  • Champion continuous improvement in development process, tooling, and product quality

TECH STACK
  • Languages: C++, C++/CLI, C#, WPF, Python
  • Build & Deployment: PowerShell scripting, AzureDevOps Pipelines, nuget and vcpkg, Advanced Installer
  • Tools: Visual Studio, GIT, Azure DevOps, GitHub Copilot
  • Hands-on experience with C# and/or C++; Python is a bonus
  • Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and software architecture
  • Experience working with a Microsoft Technology Stack such as Visual Studio, Azure, Azure DevOps, etc
  • Strong understanding of build and dependency management
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows
  • Hands-on experience with Desktop deployment solutions
  • Experience on modernizing legacy monolithic software projects
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum processes and the ability to effectively navigate and work in an agile environment.
  • Experience working with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve coding efficiency, code quality, and developer productivity.
  • Experience with robotics, simulation systems, or data analysis is highly beneficial
  • Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and collaborate effectively across teams
  • Proficient English communication skills (spoken and written)
