Software Engineer Python / Frontend

Salary: £45,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:- 2-3 years professional software engineering experience
- Strong commercial experience with Python
- Experience with FastAPI or a similar modern Python web framework
- Some experience with TypeScript and frontend development
- Good understanding of REST APIs and frontend/backend integration
- Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
- Experience working within a cloud environment, with GCP particularly beneficial
- Good understanding of Git, automated testing, CI/CD and clean coding practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in working with data-intensive applications
- A collaborative approach and good communication skills
- Experience with Angular, React or Vue would be advantageous
- Experience with Chart.js, D3.js or other data visualisation tools would be advantageous
- Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark or distributed data processing would be advantageous
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or Cloud Run would be advantageous
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code technologies would be advantageous
- Experience with GPU or accelerated computing technologies such as CUDA, CuPy or Numba would be advantageous
- Experience with numerical or high-performance computing would be advantageous
- Experience in insurance, finance, risk, analytics or other data-intensive environments would be advantageous
- Developing and maintaining backend services using Python and FastAPI
- Designing and building robust REST APIs
- Contributing to frontend applications using TypeScript
- Integrating frontend applications with backend services and data sources
- Building interactive dashboards, charts and data visualisations
- Working with PostgreSQL and ORM technologies such as SQLAlchemy
- Developing reliable, scalable and high-performance applications
- Working with cloud-native technologies, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Contributing to automated testing, CI/CD and code review processes
- Writing clean, maintainable and well-documented code
- Collaborating with engineers, data scientists and other technical specialists
- Helping integrate analytical and data-driven capabilities into production software
