Software Engineer at BairesDev
As a Software Engineer specializing in query engine internals, you will design and optimize the core components of high-performance database systems. You will connect high-level query requirements with low-level hardware efficiencies, ensuring that data processing remains rapid and scalable across distributed environments.
What You'll Do:
- Architect and implement advanced query planners and optimizers to improve data retrieval efficiency.
- Develop vectorized execution engines to leverage SIMD instructions for massive parallel processing.
- Design and maintain custom storage layers optimized for columnar data formats.
- Integrate complex query engine frameworks like Apache Calcite or Spark Catalyst into the database stack.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to resolve bottlenecks and scale engine throughput for high-volume workloads.
- 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on database or query engine internals.
- Proven expertise in developing query planners, optimizers, and execution engines.
- Advanced proficiency in Java or C++ and deep understanding of systems programming.
- Hands-on experience with columnar data formats such as Parquet or Iceberg.
- Strong knowledge of query engine frameworks like Apache Calcite, Spark Catalyst, or Impala.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
