About The Role
We’re looking for a predominantly backend-focused Engineer to join our MarTech Platforms space and help build reliable, scalable technology that brings excitement to life. You’ll independently deliver well-scoped features end-to-end, contribute to solution design and code reviews, and build strong operational ownership of the services and systems you work with.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design, build, test and deliver clean, maintainable backend solutions, with a focus on Java, Kotlin, Node.js and TypeScript.
- Independently analyse technical problems, identify dependencies and constraints, and raise risks early with practical mitigation options.
- Contribute to solution design and code reviews, considering trade-offs, scalability, reliability and operational impacts.
- Build operational awareness through monitoring, incident response, automation and continuous improvement of platform stability.
- Collaborate with Product, Delivery, QA and other engineering disciplines to deliver great outcomes.
About You
While we are big on development and offer on the job training, we want to set you up for success.
You’re a pragmatic, curious Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and solving problems without losing sight of the bigger picture. You’re comfortable working predominantly in the backend, contribute constructively to technical discussions and reviews, and enjoy collaborating across engineering and delivery teams. You can challenge assumptions respectfully, communicate trade-offs clearly and strike the right balance between quality and getting valuable solutions into production.
What You Will Bring:
- Proven backend engineering experience, particularly with Java and/or Node.js, plus experience with backend frameworks such as Spring Boot or Express and API development.
- Hands-on experience with both relational and non-relational databases, such as PostgreSQL on AWS RDS and DynamoDB, including query performance analysis.
- Experience building cloud-based applications on AWS, with an understanding of microservices, event-driven architecture, automated testing, CI/CD and observability.
- Exposure to Kafka or other messaging/streaming systems, alongside sound software engineering practices including refactoring, design patterns, security and scalable application development is highly regarded.
- Exposure to front-end development, including technologies such as TypeScript and React.
