Software Engineer - Telecel Cash
Summary
Software engineer building and maintaining software for Telecel Cash, Telecel Ghana's mobile money service: developing REST APIs and microservices, integrating with banks, payment switches and third parties, and supporting deployments in an Agile team. Core stack spans Java/C#/Python/JavaScript, relational databases, and Docker/Kubernetes with CI/CD.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services in line with approved solution architecture and engineering standards.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that meets quality and security requirements.
- Develop and support integrations with banks, payment switches, merchants, regulators, and third-party systems using APIs and middleware technologies. Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure reliable data exchange across platforms.
- Participate in unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
- Support application deployments, production releases, and post-go-live activities while assisting in the resolution of application issues and defects.
- Participate in code reviews, adhere to engineering standards, and contribute to DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automation initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Work closely with architects, product owners, QA engineers, business stakeholders, and operations teams to deliver solutions on time and within scope.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical discussions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years' experience in software development.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
- Experience developing RESTful APIs, microservices, and enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and SQL.
- Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in fin-tech, digital payments, mobile money, or telecommunications.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices and application security principles.
- Experience with integration technologies, messaging platforms, and middleware.
