Software Engineer

Job Summary:

YYC taxPOD is looking for a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and AI-powered solutions that support business operations across the group. You will play a key role in building scalable applications using modern technologies such as TypeScript, Next.js, React, Supabase, and PostgreSQL, while integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into practical business applications. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on full-stack software development, system integration, and AI application development, including the enhancement and maintenance of existing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to turn business requirements into reliable, secure, and impactful software solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications using TypeScript, React, Next.js, and related technologies.

• Build and maintain backend services, RESTful APIs, and database-driven applications using Supabase, PostgreSQL, and other relevant technologies.

• Develop and integrate AI-powered features using LLM APIs such as Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, and model aggregators such as OpenRouter.

• Maintain and enhance existing RAG applications, including document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search, reranking, and retrieval evaluation.

• Explore and implement AI agents, tool calling, and context engineering to improve application capabilities and response quality.

• Develop secure, scalable, and maintainable software following coding standards, testing practices, and application security principles.

• Troubleshoot application issues, optimise performance, and support deployment and CI/CD processes.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Codex to improve engineering productivity and development efficiency.

• Produce clear technical documentation and collaborate with product, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver effective software solutions.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 1–3 years of experience in software development or related projects.

• Proficient in TypeScript, with hands-on experience in React or Next.js.

• Experience in backend development, RESTful APIs, and database integration.

• Familiarity with Supabase, PostgreSQL, or similar database technologies.

• Strong understanding of software development practices, Git, debugging, and application maintenance.

• Ability to develop, enhance, and maintain web applications and AI-powered solutions.

• Experience with Python and LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini), and aggregators (OpenRouter).

• Knowledge of RAG architectures, embeddings, chunking, reranking, vector databases, and AI agents.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex), cloud deployment, and CI/CD pipelines.

Good to Have:

• Experience with AI application frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Vercel AI SDK.

• Familiarity with Supabase Authentication, Storage, Edge Functions, and pgvector.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Vercel.

• Knowledge of application monitoring, LLM evaluation, prompt optimisation, and token cost management.

• Familiarity with Docker, containerisation, and modern software deployment practices.

• Exposure to enterprise application development, system architecture, and secure software engineering practices.
