Software Engineering Director

You will lead and mentor multiple engineering teams that build foundational capabilities, developer tools, and services for mobile and front-end applications. You will set the technical vision and roadmap, address platform gaps and risks, support reliable scalable BFF services, manage delivery and operations, develop engineering leaders, and work with stakeholders on high-impact priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple software development teams serving Product Engineering teams
• Shape the strategic direction for developer tooling and foundational enablement capabilities
• Produce and deliver the strategic technical vision for Core Apps Enablement
• Identify reusable technology opportunities across mobile, BFF, and platform engineering domains
• Define and drive the roadmap for foundational services
• Identify technology gaps, mitigate technical risks, and ensure scalable reliable BFF services
• Create leadership opportunities, hire, manage performance, and lead with empathy
• Partner with engineering leaders, platform teams, and product stakeholders to prioritize enablement backlogs and roadmaps
• Drive operational excellence and transparency through data and KPIs
• Ensure effective operational support for enablement services
• Liaise with partners and regulatory bodies on release processes
• Deliver architecturally sound solutions and make build-versus-buy decisions
• Communicate and drive strategic initiatives for mobile platforms, BFF architecture, and enabling services
• Manage expenditure for tooling, infrastructure, and vendor services

Requirements

• 10+ years in a software role
• 5+ years managing software engineering teams
• Experience managing managers
• Experience with iOS, Android, web, and backend-for-frontend architectures
• Experience building developer tools, strategic capabilities, or enablement services
• Experience delivering technology solutions for consumer-facing products
• Hands-on experience developing highly available, fault-tolerant, resilient applications and transactional platforms
• Experience with software delivery best practices and agile delivery methodologies
• Experience supporting production systems and on-call operations
• Experience working with nearshore, offshore, or third-party development teams
• Experience defining and executing a strategic vision for enablement capabilities
• Experience delivering distributed, highly scalable, highly available backend systems and APIs
