About Konji

Konji pays you to shop. Thousands of products from hundreds of brands, in one app.

The Role

We're hiring a Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to build Konji with us. Your center of gravity is the backend: the catalog, search and recommendations, checkout and payments, and ads.

You'll work across the app, the web shop and everything behind them, on real features that ship to shoppers, not a side project. What you build is in shoppers' hands the same week. It's 10 to 12 weeks, full time and remote.

What You'll Do

Build the Marketplace

  • Ship features end to end, from the API to the app and the web.
  • Help keep the catalog in sync with thousands of brands' stores: prices, stock, options and photos.
  • Work on checkout, payments and the credit ledger, where the money always has to be right.

Make It Fast and Personal

  • Improve search and recommendations: embeddings, ranking and the feeds shoppers open every day.
  • Make screens feel instant, from the queries to the caching to what loads first.

Ship It Well

  • Write tests, deploy your own work and watch it in production.
  • Learn how the ads auction, budgets and credit stay accurate and hard to game.

What We're Looking For

  • You're studying computer science or a related field, or you've taught yourself and have the projects to show it.
  • Fluency in at least one major programming language.
  • You've built something people use: a project, an internship, a hackathon or open source.
  • Comfort with databases: you can design a schema and explain why an index helps.
  • Care with correctness, especially where money is involved.
  • Product instinct: you notice what a change means for shoppers and brands, not just the code.
  • Clear communication: you ask questions early and stay low-ego when corrected.

Bonus Points

  • Search or recommendation systems.
  • Payments or marketplace experience.
  • iOS development.
  • Ads, auctions or fraud detection.
  • Side projects or open source that people actually use.

What Success Looks Like

  • Features you built, in production and used by shoppers.
  • Tests and monitoring for everything you ship.
  • A project you can explain end to end, from the problem to the numbers after it shipped.

About You

You like small teams and big ownership. You'd rather read the logs than guess, you care about the details shoppers never see, and you're happiest when something you built gets used the same day.
