Software Engineering Manager - Weighing Automation & Integration

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a small software development team and manage the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

The role involves developing and maintaining weighing application software, industrial automation solutions, IoT-based applications, and integrations with third-party systems and ERP platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in C#/.NET, experience with modern software technologies, and the ability to integrate software with industrial hardware and weighing systems.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining software architecture, coding, troubleshooting, project management, and team mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

1. Software Development & Technical Leadership

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of weighing applications and IoT-based industrial automation solutions.
• Develop and maintain software using C#, .NET Core, and .NET Framework.
• Maintain and modernize legacy VB/VB.NET applications while supporting migration to modern technologies.
• Develop automation scripts, backend APIs, and web applications using Python, Node.js, and React.
• Integrate software applications with weighing electronics, industrial sensors, and peripherals using serial and network communication protocols.
• Ensure software security, reliability, performance, and maintainability.

2. Project Management & SDLC

• Manage the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle, from requirement gathering and technical design to development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Define project scope, work breakdown structures, development timelines, and delivery milestones.
• Manage development backlogs, monitor project progress, and ensure timely delivery.
• Establish best practices for version control, code reviews, documentation, and cybersecurity.
• Collaborate with Sales, Hardware, Production, and Service teams to translate customer requirements into technical specifications.
• Ensure clear requirement documentation and scope approval.
• Identify and implement AI-based tools and solutions to improve software development productivity and testing efficiency.

3. Testing, Troubleshooting & Technical Support

• Establish manual and automated software testing processes.
• Develop testing frameworks for software and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues, system bugs, and hardware-software integration problems.
• Provide advanced technical support for critical field issues and escalations.
• Ensure product quality, system reliability, and smooth software performance.

4. Team Management & Mentoring

• Lead, mentor, and guide a small software development team.
• Improve coding practices, technical capabilities, productivity, and time management.
• Encourage continuous learning and adoption of modern development tools and technologies.
• Promote the effective use of AI in software development, testing, and organizational workflows.
• Balance hands-on technical contributions with project planning and team leadership.

Required Technical Skills

• Programming & Backend: Strong expertise in C#, .NET Core, and .NET Framework.
• Legacy Systems: Working knowledge of VB/VB.NET applications.
• Modern Technologies: Proficiency in Python and Node.js.
• Frontend Development: Understanding of React for web applications and dashboards.
• Database Management: Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SQLite, and Oracle.
• Industrial Communication Protocols: Familiarity with RS232/RS485, Modbus, TCP/IP, OPC UA, and MQTT.
• Software Integration: Experience integrating software with industrial hardware, weighing indicators, sensors, and peripherals.
• Software Engineering Practices: Version control, code reviews, software documentation, testing, debugging, and cybersecurity.
• AI in Software Development: Ability to explore and implement AI-based tools for development and testing efficiency.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

Experience Required

• 10-15 years of professional software development experience.
• 35 years of experience in a team lead, Scrum Master, or managerial role leading small technical teams.
