Software Full Stack Engineer
Summary
Build and deploy full-stack AI systems for Singapore’s public housing agency, integrating LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows into production-grade web apps and APIs.
Software Engineer (Full Stack) – AI & Data | HDB
Build the systems that power AI for 1 million+ Singaporean households.
Role Overview
HDB's AI and Data Department is expanding, and we need a Full Stack Software Engineer who can bridge cutting‑edge AI with production‑grade engineering. You will design, build, and deploy the software infrastructure that turns machine learning models and generative AI into real‑world solutions for public housing. Working alongside data scientists and AI engineers, you will operationalise LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows and ship them to production at scale.
Responsibilities
- Build production AI systems: design and maintain web applications, APIs, backend services, and frontends that power HDB's AI and data science solutions.
- Integrate modern AI technologies: work with LLMs, retrieval systems, vector databases, agent frameworks, and orchestration tools such as LangChain and LangGraph to build scalable AI applications.
- Engineer for the cloud: develop cloud‑native solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP using containerisation, infrastructure‑as‑code, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Accelerate AI delivery: build reusable frameworks, internal libraries, and developer tools that raise the bar for AI engineering across HDB.
- Own operational excellence: monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve deployed systems for performance, security, and reliability.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals – object‑oriented programming, software architecture, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
- Proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Full‑stack development experience including RESTful APIs, authentication, databases, and frontend integration.
- Experience building cloud‑native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Hands‑on experience with containerisation and deployment technologies – Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with LLMs, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, agentic workflows, and AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable software solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams comprising software engineers, data scientists, business stakeholders, and IT professionals.
- Experience shipping generative AI solutions in production environments.
- Advanced cloud certifications on AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred).
- Prior public sector or GovTech exposure.
- Open‑source contributions in AI/ML or full‑stack tooling.
Benefits
- National impact – your code directly improves how 80% of Singaporeans interact with public housing services.
- AI‑first team – work with seasoned data scientists and engineers in a dedicated department.
- Scale and stability – public‑sector mission with modern engineering practices; ship fast, sleep well.
- Continuous growth – stay at the forefront of AI/ML engineering in a tech‑forward statutory board.
