Software Programmer - Java

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Software Developer/Software Programmer to join a strong development team working on critical services in the digital banking space. You will bring technical leadership, mentor junior developers and help shape reliable, scalable services from the user interface through to the database backend, all within a fast-paced Rapid Application Development environment.

Key responsibilities

• Be part of a strong development team focusing on the development of critical services

• Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers

• Embrace DevOps culture and implement automation for applications

• Provide technical leadership and expertise for design, implementation and quality release

• Develop reliable services from user interface to database backend

• Propose changes to the deployment architecture to improve performance, scalability and manageability

• Ensure quality decisions in the review and analysis of tools from third-party vendors

About you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent

• 10 to 12 years of experience in enterprise software development, with OOD/MVC design experience

• Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, web services, RESTful API, JSON and XML, plus Linux/Unix development tools and scripting languages such as Python, Perl and JavaScript

• Solid understanding of RDBMS data models, with knowledge of more than one database

• Working experience with CI/CD tool chain and strong experience in DevOps tools; Agile project experience

• Full stack experience is highly regarded, along with a good understanding of web and mobile front-end technologies and digital banking UX; Angular 2+, TypeScript, iOS/Android SDK, HTML5, CSS, Microservices and Kubernetes are an advantage

• Self-starter with strong communication, collaboration and teamwork skills, able to juggle multiple tasks with a result-focused mindset
