Software QA Engineer
About the role
You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of a desktop healthcare application by performing functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing throughout the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with developers and product owners to identify defects early, verify software behaviour, and help deliver high-quality software to customers. This role focuses primarily on manual testing. Candidates with UI test automation experience will have the opportunity to maintain and enhance existing automated test suites, as well as contribute new automated tests where appropriate.
Key responsibilities
Analyse business requirements, user stories, and technical specifications to understand system behaviour
Design, create, execute, and maintain manual test cases and test scenarios
Perform smoke testing, functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and exploratory testing
Verify bug fixes and perform impact analysis
Investigate customer reported issues and reproduce defects
Work closely with developers to troubleshoot software issues
Log, track, and verify defects using the project management system
Participate in sprint planning and other Agile ceremonies
Maintain test documentation and improve test coverage over time
Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and testing standards
Maintain and update existing UI automated tests
Develop new automated UI tests for suitable functional areas
Investigate automation failures and update test scripts when application changes occur
Support continuous improvement of the automation test suite
Identify suitable functional areas for automation and collaborate with the QA team to expand automation coverage
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 3 years in Software Quality Assurance
Good understanding of QA methodologies, testing principles and software development life cycle (SDLC)
Experience testing Windows desktop or enterprise applications
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and manage testing tasks within project timelines
Experience maintaining or contributing to UI test automation is an advantage
Experience using defect management tools (e.g. JIRA)
Basic SQL knowledge for data verification and troubleshooting
Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
Experience with UI test automation tools (e.g. TestComplete, WinAppDriver, Playwright, Selenium or similar)
Basic programming or scripting skills in Python (preferred) or other programming languages used for automation (e.g. Java, C#)
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Action
