You will join collaborative, dynamic, and excellence-driven teams, where you will play a key role in implementing quality assurance throughout the software lifecycle. Your mission will be to ensure that processes, activities, and deliverables comply with applicable requirements, industry standards, organizational procedures, and contractual commitments.

Your contribution will be to provide independent assurance of compliance across the software lifecycle by assessing processes, activities, deliverables, and objective quality evidence against applicable standards, contractual requirements, and organizational procedures. This role is based in particular on the quality assurance principles defined by IEEE 1558, EN 50716, and EN 50128, as well as organizational and customer quality requirements.

You will ensure that software development, verification, validation, and configuration management activities are planned, performed, documented, and evidenced in accordance with established processes and applicable quality requirements.

On a daily basis, you will work closely with development, verification, configuration management, safety, cybersecurity, customer, and supplier teams to ensure effective process implementation and compliance of the associated deliverables.

You will be primarily responsible for developing, deploying, and monitoring the Software Quality Assurance Plan (SQAP), conducting quality audits and surveillance activities, and assessing procedural and documentary compliance throughout the software lifecycle.

Role scope: The role focuses on process assurance, compliance assessment, documentation reviews, lifecycle traceability, and quality governance. It does not include software development, source code review, technical verification, software testing, functional validation, or technical approval of software solutions, which remain the responsibility of specialized engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, deploy, and maintain the Software Quality Assurance Plan (SQAP) for projects.

  • Ensure compliance of software processes and deliverables with EN 50716, EN 50128, IEEE 1558, and all applicable project quality requirements.

  • Assess and monitor compliance of software lifecycle processes with organizational, regulatory, normative, and contractual requirements.

  • Perform independent quality reviews of software lifecycle deliverables and records to verify their completeness, consistency, traceability, and documentary compliance.

  • Verify the availability and adequacy of objective evidence demonstrating that development, verification, validation, and configuration management activities have been performed in accordance with applicable processes.

  • Prepare and present Software Quality Assurance reports to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Participate in project milestone and gate reviews, providing independent quality assessments of the compliance of activities and deliverables.

  • Support configuration management activities by ensuring process adherence and control of software items, including supplier-provided components such as COTS products, libraries, third-party software, and supplier source code.

  • Plan, conduct, or support software quality audits and ensure follow-up of corrective and preventive actions through closure.

  • Support software compliance demonstration and certification activities.

  • Provide independent assurance of software lifecycle compliance without participating in software development, source code reviews, software verification, software testing, or technical validation activities.

  • Act as the quality focal point for customers, suppliers, auditors, and assessment bodies on all Software Quality Assurance matters.

  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of quality processes, methods, and practices.

  • Travel occasionally to support project activities, audits, and coordination with stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you ideally possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.

  • Professional proficiency in English.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle models, processes, tools, and techniques.

  • Ability to identify quality risks and compliance gaps throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of Software Quality Assurance principles, compliance monitoring, process governance, audit methodologies, and documentary compliance practices.

  • Ability to independently assess the compliance of software activities, lifecycle processes, and deliverables.

  • Understanding of requirements management, traceability, and configuration management principles.

  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong internal and external customer focus.

  • Familiarity with software configuration management techniques and tools, considered an asset.

  • Auditor certification and quality auditing experience, considered assets.

  • Knowledge of standards and frameworks applicable to railway software development and quality assurance, including EN 50716, EN 50128, IEEE 1558, ISO 9001, CMMI, or equivalent standards. Ability to interpret regulatory and normative requirements and assess process and deliverable compliance throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Proficiency with tools such as MS Office, SharePoint, document management systems, project tracking tools, and configuration management systems.
