Software Test Engineer

Avya Technology Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented QA Engineer with 35 years of experience in manual testing, automation testing, and AI-assisted software testing. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test planning, test case design, defect tracking, and automation frameworks.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring software quality through comprehensive testing, identifying and analyzing defects, validating application functionality, and leveraging automation tools and AI-powered testing solutions to improve testing efficiency, accuracy, and coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform manual testing, including functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and exploratory testing.
• Design, develop, review, and execute test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts based on project requirements.
• Perform automation testing using relevant automation tools and frameworks.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts to improve testing coverage and efficiency.
• Use AI-powered testing tools and AI-assisted techniques to generate test cases, identify potential defects, analyze test results, and optimize testing workflows.
• Test web applications, APIs, and backend systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance.
• Perform API testing using Postman or similar tools.
• Identify, document, track, and verify defects using bug-tracking tools.
• Conduct regression testing after bug fixes, feature enhancements, and new releases.
• Analyze complex requirements, identify potential risks, investigate defects, and determine root causes.
• Evaluate test results, identify patterns, and recommend solutions to improve application quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve quality issues.
• Maintain clear documentation of test cases, test execution reports, defects, and test results.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum meetings and contribute to continuous improvement in QA processes.
• Explore and adopt suitable automation and AI-assisted testing tools to improve testing productivity.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• Strong hands-on experience in manual testing of web applications.
• Practical experience with automation testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of programming or scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages used for test automation.
• Experience in functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and exploratory testing.
• Knowledge of API testing using Postman or equivalent tools.
• Experience in test case preparation, test execution, defect reporting, and bug life cycle management.
• Understanding of AI-assisted testing and AI-powered testing tools, including their application in test case generation, test data creation, and test automation.
• Familiarity with defect-tracking and test management tools such as Jira or similar platforms.
• Understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex requirements, identify potential risks, investigate defects, and determine root causes.
• Excellent attention to detail and logical thinking to ensure comprehensive test coverage and software quality.
• Ability to evaluate test results, identify patterns, and recommend effective solutions to improve application performance and reliability.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Good to Have

• Hands-on experience with AI-powered testing tools such as Testim, mabl, Applitools, or other AI-assisted QA solutions.
• Experience using AI assistants such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools for test case generation, script creation, and debugging.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation integration using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6.
• Experience with database testing and SQL queries.
• Familiarity with cross-browser testing, responsive testing, and cloud-based testing platforms.
• Experience testing AI-powered applications, LLM-based features, or applications involving AI integrations.
