Software Test Engineer

Job Summary
We are looking for a Software Test Engineer II with 3-5 years of relevant experience who can contribute to both manual and automation testing for enterprise software products. This role is suited for a detail-oriented quality engineer with an automation mindset, strong functional testing skills, and the ability to convert repeatable test scenarios into reliable automated coverage. The person will work closely with QA, engineering, product and global teams to deliver high-quality software to customers.
What You Will Do
• Plan, design and execute manual test cases for functional, integration, regression and end-to-end scenarios.
• Create, maintain and improve automated test scripts using existing tools and frameworks, including C# and Selenium.
• Identify the right balance between manual validation and automation coverage based on risk, repeatability and product impact.
• Analyze requirements, participate in backlog refinement, provide test estimates and define test coverage for user stories.
• Log, track, troubleshoot and validate defects using existing defect management tools such as Azure DevOps/VSTS.
• Perform database validation and troubleshooting using SQL Server and SQL queries where required.
• Contribute to regression readiness, release validation, test data setup, traceability and test metrics.
• Support performance testing activities using existing tools such as LoadNinja when required.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, product teams and global stakeholders to improve product quality.
• Continuously improve testing practices by identifying opportunities for automation, better coverage and faster feedback.
Automation Mindset
• Think beyond test execution by identifying repeatable, high-value scenarios that should be automated.
• Use automation to improve regression coverage, reduce manual effort and provide faster release feedback.
• Write maintainable automation scripts and follow good practices for reliability, readability and reuse.
• Be willing to learn and expand automation skills when new tools, frameworks or product areas are introduced.
Good to Have: AI-Assisted Testing and Development
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development and testing tools such as LLMs, ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or similar tools is an added advantage.
• Exposure to using AI tools responsibly for test case ideas, test data preparation, automation script drafting, defect analysis or documentation is good to have.
• Ability to review AI-generated suggestions with sound engineering judgment, product knowledge and security awareness is preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in software testing, with a strong mix of manual testing and test automation experience in Agile/Scrum product development environments.
• Hands-on experience in manual testing, test planning, test case design, test execution, defect management, traceability and test metrics.
• Automation testing experience using C# and Selenium.
• Good understanding of SDLC, STLC and Agile/Scrum ways of working.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps/VSTS is highly desired.
• Experience with SQL Server and SQL queries is preferred.
• Good to have: performance testing exposure using LoadNinja.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially across product, database, application and server-side issues.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, collaborative and global environment.
• Previous experience with reconciliation and/or month-end close applications is preferred.
