Solar Analyst

NewBe an early applicant

Summary

Solar Analyst monitoring MW-scale solar plant performance: tracking PR/CUF, attributing energy losses (grid downtime, clipping, soiling, thermal), forecasting generation, and reporting to stakeholders. Core tools: Python/R/Excel for SCADA data analysis, PVSyst/Meteonorm modeling, and BI visualization.

Solar Analyst

Location: PAN India (Bhopal/Mumbai preferred)

Experience: 7+ years

Work Mode: On-site

Industry: Renewable Energy

About the Role

We are looking for a Solar Analyst with deep expertise in solar data analytics and performance engineering for MW-scale plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performance Ratio (PR) Tracking: Monitor and analyze the PR and Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) for MW-scale plants, ensuring they meet contractual obligations.
  • Deep Data Analytics: Use Python, R, or advanced MS Excel/Google Sheets to analyze large datasets from SCADA systems to identify degradation trends or equipment underperformance.
  • Lost Energy Attribution: Calculate energy losses specifically due to grid downtime, clipping, soiling, and thermal effects to provide a clear “Actual vs. Theoretical” generation gap analysis.
  • Forecasting & Modeling: Use PVSyst or Meteonorm data to create generation forecasts and compare real-time data against weather-adjusted benchmarks.
  • Soiling Analysis: Analyze soiling losses to optimize cleaning cycles for MW-scale sites, balancing cost vs. generation gain.
  • Reporting: Prepare high-level technical reports for stakeholders, highlighting monthly generation health and proposing corrective actions for system-level inefficiencies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or Renewable Energy.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years, specifically in solar data analytics or performance engineering for MW-scale plants.
  • Software Proficiency: Expert level in MS Excel and SCADA systems. Proficiency in PVSyst and data visualization tools (like Power BI or Tableau) is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of PV system, inverter efficiency curves, and different losses.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to diagnose complex issues like PID (Potential Induced Degradation) or string-level mismatch from remote data.

What We Offer

  • A chance to work on large-scale utility assets within a fast-growing, mission-driven company.
  • Competitive salary, health insurance, and specialized technical training programs.
  • A collaborative environment that values data-backed decision making.
